It is important to have a GROWTH MINDSET when it comes to your fitness & health journey.


What does it mean to have a Growth Mindset?


A Growth Mindset, as conceived by Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck and colleagues, is the belief that a person's capacities and talents can be improved over time.


A Growth Mindset focuses on long-term habits, self-efficacy, and patience.


To adopt a growth mindset, practice embracing these 5 characteristics:

  • Embrace challenges: Viewing difficulties as opportunities to learn rather than obstacles to avoid. 

  • Persistence: Continue to work through setbacks and maintain effort despite difficulties. 

  • Effort as a path to mastery: Understand that consistency is necessary for developing long-term skills. Celebrate small wins!

  • Learning from criticism: Welcoming constructive feedback to improve and grow. 

  • Championing others' success: Finding inspiration in the achievements of others rather than feeling threatened. 

 

By working towards developing a growth mindset, you set yourself up for success on your fitness & health journey.
