You made it through the Holidays. You indulged in all the cookies, pie, rolls, chips, dips, & adult beverages you could handle. Now… you are paying the price with that infamous HOLIDAY BLOAT! That feeling of fullness, pressure, & swelling in your belly. UGH!
How do you get rid of the full, uncomfortable feeling???
Here are some tips:
Adjust what you eat: Focus on whole foods at every meal including protein, veggies, & fruit. Avoid processed foods & excess sugar. Reduce salty & gas-producing foods.
Eat smaller portions. It’s not only important to choose the right foods but also to be mindful of how much you eat in one sitting. Reduce your portion sizes. Eat until you are 80% full. Rest & digest after each meal.
Get Active. Walking or gentle stretching/yoga are great ways to get your gut moving. Child’s pose is a great choice to activate gut movement.
Hydrate! Sip room temperature water frequently. Cold/ice water may irritate your belly. Be sure not to gulp/guzzle large amounts of water as this can create more bloating by swallowing bits of air as you drink.
Bye-bye Holiday bloat. Hello New Year!
