DO YOU START YOUR DAY FEELING OVERWHELMED? TRY THIS INSTEAD...

What does a typical morning look like for you?

Do you hit your snooze button 5 times and wake feeling rushed & behind?

Do you hurry to shower & get dressed. Do you grab a coffee & a bagel to slam down on your drive to work.

Does any of this sound familiar?

This ROUTINE is likely to create a barrier between you and your health & fitness goals.

Let me explain…

When you start your day feeling overwhelmed, you are more likely to eat poorly- not just at breakfast, but for the WHOLE DAY. When you start your day feeling rushed, you certainly don’t have time to exercise before work and the stress of the morning carries over throughout your day, possibly preventing you from exercising at all.

You have just created a barrier to reaching your health & fitness goals.

So what is the best way to overcome this barrier?

If you have health & fitness goals, there is something you can do to JUMP START your day & set you up for success. It’s called a MORNING ROUTINE.

Not the rushed, stressful routine you’re living now, but a thoughtful, planned set of actions that will support your health & fitness goals.

What is a MORNING ROUTINE?

WHAT:  MORNING ROUTINE

             Routine- a string of habits

Habits- repeated behaviors done without notice

Good- brushing your teeth, making your bed, driving to work

Bad- hitting snooze button numerous times, checking your email/social media first thing in morning, drinking 5 cups of coffee

Why is a morning routine important?

WHY:  Having a morning routine sets you up for:

  • less stress/rush- feeling more in control

  • more productivity at work & home- more focus

  • able to achieve goals more easily

  • able to handle disruptions in day more easily

What are some things you can incorporate into your morning routine?

MORNING ROUTINE SUGGESTIONS:

  • Wake at the same time every day

  • Schedule time- this is an appointment with yourself

  • Exercise

  • Mindfulness- meditation, breathing

  • Eat a healthy breakfast- fuel your body for consistent energy throughout the day

It’s important to note that the habit of doing the habit (morning routine) is more important than the habit itself. Don't overthink it.

Be consistent and do what feels ‘right’ for you.

Homework:

1- Choose 1-2 things you can implement into your NEW MORNING ROUTINE.

2- Plan & write out your morning routine.

3- Implement your plan in the coming week.

Remember, if you have health & fitness goals, implementing a morning routine is one of the best ways you can set yourself up for success.

You got this!
